What a cookie is here
A cookie is a small file a site stores in your browser. We also treat browser storage
(`localStorage`) the same way, because it works the same in practice.
Strictly necessary
These are always on. They carry no advertising identifier and are never shared.
- Session and security — keeps you signed in on protected pages and protects form submissions.
- Consent record — stores your choice on this banner so we stop asking. Key: `sa-cookie-consent`, kept until you clear it.
Analytics — only with your consent
If you accept analytics, we load Google Analytics 4 (gtag.js) from Google. It sets
`_ga` and `_ga_*` cookies, typically for up to two years, and records which pages are
viewed, roughly where visitors come from, and which devices are used.
We run it with IP anonymisation on, advertising and personalisation signals switched off,
and Google Consent Mode set to denied until you say otherwise. We do not run remarketing,
ad targeting or cross-site profiling. Google acts as our processor; data may be processed
outside the EEA under Standard Contractual Clauses.
Before you choose
While the banner is open, and for at most 30 seconds after your first visit, we record a
single cookieless page view so we know the page was reached. No cookies are written, no
identifier is stored on your device, and measurement stops automatically when the 30
seconds pass or as soon as you choose "Necessary only".
If you decline, nothing further is sent and no analytics cookies are ever written.
Changing your mind
Use the button below to reopen the banner and switch your choice. You can also clear
cookies and site data in your browser, or install Google's opt-out add-on. Declining
analytics does not affect anything on the site.
