Employer billing
Two-sided marketplaces for hiring. Figures measured against the process this platform replaced, twelve weeks after full rollout.
The problem
A jobs platform fails on liquidity, not features. Candidates leave if listings are stale; employers leave if applications are irrelevant. Both sides judge the product in the first thirty seconds.
The approach
Search first. Faceted filters over role, seniority, location, contract type and salary band, with the ranking rules written down and tunable rather than buried in a query.
Matching is scored and explainable — an employer sees why a candidate surfaced — because opaque relevance is impossible to sell and impossible to debug.
The build
Employer accounts with seats, credits or subscriptions, invoicing and VAT handling; candidate profiles with CV parsing and privacy controls over who can see what; an applicant pipeline with stages, notes and bulk actions.
Alerts and digests are the retention loop, so they are built early and measured — open rates and application conversion feed back into ranking.
The stack
Next.js for SEO-critical listing pages, Laravel services over PostgreSQL, Elasticsearch for search and matching, Stripe for billing, background workers for alerts and indexing.
