A US IoT platform whose React Native and React apps controlled a range of Bluetooth devices, each speaking its own protocol. We gave the applications one consistent way to talk to all of them.

Current
Framework versions
One protocol layer for many Bluetooth devices. Figures measured against the process this platform replaced, twelve weeks after full rollout.
The problem
Every supported device had its own Bluetooth protocol, and the mobile and web apps knew about all of them. Adding a device meant editing the applications; onboarding and connection stability suffered accordingly.
The approach
Put a common communication layer between the applications and the devices, designed for multiple device types and simultaneous connections rather than one-at-a-time pairing.
The build
The React Native and React.js applications were brought up to current framework versions first — stability and maintainability were prerequisites, not extras — then the protocol layer landed underneath them, improving device onboarding and connection reliability across mobile and web.
